A DISTRESSING EXERCISE
This staircase sample has just been completed in our Oxford workshops for a refurbishment project currently under way in central London, and is awaiting shipping for the client’s consideration.
The wonderful distressed look has been achieved using a series of both time honoured and modern methods and is a testimony to the skills of our decorators. All materials used in the sample are new apart from the treads, which have been created using recycled oak floorboards given a minimum of finishing.
New oak used for the handrail has also been expertly matched to the colour of the treads.

DECORATORS RE-VISIT PAST PROJECT
Symm’s decoration team has been invited to return to old haunts by the new owner of an impressive Regency villa in Oxford to give it a completely new look. The house was previously the subject of major refurbishment and conservation by Symm. This is a substantial decorating project and will also involve a number of minor alterations which will be carried out by the Small Works Team.

SYMM INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS
The weather forecasts were on the bleak side of gloomy as the weekend loomed for the Symm International Horse Trials at Hambleden but this thankfully changed, and wonderful weather (on the whole) provided a backdrop for a fantastic weekend of equestrian competition, food, drink and good company.
For those able to appreciate such detail, the event was attended by a number of top names including New Zealand rider Mark Todd (his first event since Badminton), Mary King (fresh from her unprecedented first and second place at the 4* International event in Kentucky the weekend before)and Blyth Tait who, along with Mark Todd, is hoping to secure a place in the NZ 2012 Olympic team. Oli Townend and Andrew Nicholson also each had a very successful weekend with a number of wins apiece.
The rest of us were content to enjoy the day, admire the horses and the skill of the riders and wonder at some of the truly scary cross country jumps designed by Chris Hughes.

Symm Launches New Website
Symm is proud to launch a brand new website. Aidan Mortimer, CEO of Symm, commented:
I am delighted to announce the launch of our new website. The site now has a far greater selection of examples of recently completed projects and also includes details of our Home Technology service and our London office. I am particularly excited about these last two developments which perfectly compliment our existing main contracting, joinery, stonemasonry, decorating and building maintenance services.
